Saarnivaahtera on Acer - suvun puista keveintä ja pehmeintä. En ole kuullut että kukaan olisi siitä jousta tehnyt, mutta jos kyseistä puuta on hyvä keppi saatavilla, kannattaa toki kokeilla. Kuten aina rajatapauspuilla, tavallista suurempi pituus tai leveys parantavat jousen selviämismahkuja.
